Gold in Asia Down


    Gold prices fell in Asian electronic trading on Friday, extending the previous session's decline, because the disappearance of expectations for immediate stimulus from the U.S..

Gold futures for August delivery fell U.S. $ 17.70 or 1.1% to U.S. $ 1,570.40 an ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange during Asian trading hours.

These metals declined 2.8% this morning on the North American session, after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke in his testimony before Congress, failed to give a signal that monetary policy measures that will be looser.

Bernanke said the central bank is willing to act when Europe's debt crisis worsened, but gave no indication of what the central bank will do at the next policy meeting.

Copper for July fell 4 cents, or 1.3% to U.S. $ 3.33 per pound. Juil silver fell 31 cents, or 1.8% to U.S. $ 28.22 per ounce. Platinum for July delivery fell U.S. $ 12.70 or 0.9% to U.S. $ 1,429.70 per ounce, while palladium futures for September delivery fell U.S. $ 3.70, or 0.6% to U.S. $ 622.05 per ounce .
